Afric'art Progress – The mirror of African cinema

Kady Traoré, from Bobo Dioulasso in western Burkina Faso, is a talented producer and director. Her journey in the world of cinema began in 1998 as an actress, where she played memorable roles in various feature films and TV series.

In 2013, she decided to deepen her commitment to cinema by obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Image at the Institut Supérieur de l'Image et du Son. Armed with the skills she had acquired, Kady distinguished herself by producing low-budget films. This initiative had two major objectives: firstly, to meet the demand for cinematographic content in Burkina Faso and, secondly, to provide work opportunities for young qualified technicians in the local film industry.

Kady also took up the challenge of producing films despite the lack of structured financing in Burkina Faso. This was crucial in maintaining the functionality of cinemas, even as they were gradually closing in many African capitals.

Thanks to her resolute commitment, Kady Traoré founded the production company ATHENA films in 2014. This company embodies her dedication to Burkina Faso's film industry and her passion for making films that captivate and inspire audiences.
